Gesture Control Keyboard

A fully touchless HMI keyboard that recognises 3D air gestures - swipe, wave, hover and dwell - and outputs standard USB HID keycodes with under 50 ms latency. No physical contact, no contamination, no glove compatibility issues. IP65 sealed sensor window. Hybrid models combine gesture zones with physical keys for mixed-mode operation.

Control without contact - where gloves, contamination and hygiene matter

Sterile environments, chemical lines, food processing and medical theatres all share one problem: physical keyboards contaminate or are contaminated. Gesture control solves it permanently.

3D air gesture recognition

IR optical sensor array detects hand position and motion in X, Y and Z axes - recognising 8 standard gestures (swipe, wave, hover, dwell, push and custom) in any environmental light condition.

Under 50 ms latency

Gesture recognition, keycode generation and USB HID transmission complete in under 50 ms end-to-end - indistinguishable from a physical keystroke for the operator and the application.

Standard USB HID - OS-transparent

Outputs standard HID keyboard keycodes over USB. No driver, no SDK, no OS configuration - works on Windows, Linux, embedded RTOS and bare-metal systems out of the box.

IP65 sealed sensor window

The IR sensor window is flush-sealed to IP65 - no apertures, no grilles, no exposed surfaces. Clean, spray and disinfect the keyboard face as aggressively as the environment demands.

Programmable gesture-to-keycode map

Every gesture maps to any HID keycode, mouse button, modifier or macro via the included PC configuration utility. Reconfigure for a new workflow in minutes without firmware update.

Hybrid gesture + physical keys

Hybrid models combine a gesture zone for primary navigation with a sealed physical key zone for data entry - the best of both worlds for mixed-mode operator consoles.

How it works

Wave to control. Touch nothing. Change nothing on the PC.

The IR sensor array continuously scans the detection volume. When a hand enters the field, the onboard microcontroller classifies the motion pattern against the stored gesture library and immediately issues the mapped HID keycode over USB - exactly as if a physical key was pressed. The host sees a standard HID keyboard.

  • Operates through gloves, finger cots and protective sleeves
  • Proximity wake: sensor detects approach and activates from sleep
  • Ambient light immune - works in full darkness and bright sunlight
  • LED status ring confirms gesture recognition to the operator

Factory-configured to the most common navigation keycodes. Every mapping can be changed in minutes via the PC configuration utility - no firmware update required.
