Shock & Impact Proof Input Devices

Shock & Impact Proof Keyboard

An industrial keyboard engineered to absorb the worst your environment can deliver - tested to 40G half-sine shock pulses per IEC 60068-2-27, 1.2 m operating drop per MIL-STD-810H, and broadband random vibration, with a rubber shock-isolated chassis and conformal-coated PCB.

Why this keyboard

Built to take hits and keep working

Mining blasts, vehicle drops, heavy machinery vibration and gunfire shock are each a distinct failure mode. This keyboard is tested against every one of them.

40G half-sine shock tested

Passes 40G, 11 ms half-sine shock pulses in all three axes per IEC 60068-2-27 Test Ea and MIL-STD-810H Method 516.8 - the same tests applied to defence electronics and vehicle-mount systems.

1.2 m operational drop

Survives a 1.2 m operating drop onto concrete and remains fully functional - no key failures, no PCB cracking, no loss of electrical continuity.

Broadband random vibration

Tested to IEC 60068-2-64 broadband random and IEC 60068-2-6 sinusoidal vibration across 5–500 Hz - suitable for continuous vehicle-mount, rail, heavy plant and transport environments.

Rubber shock-isolated chassis

Elastomer anti-shock isolator mounts between the PCB and outer enclosure absorb peak impulse energy before it reaches the electronics, dramatically extending service life.

Conformal-coated PCB

Full conformal coating protects every solder joint, trace and component from vibration-induced fatigue, moisture ingress and chemical attack simultaneously.

Reinforced die-cast enclosure

Die-cast aluminium body with reinforced corner guards distributes impact energy across the housing rather than concentrating it at PCB mounts or key mechanism attachment points.

Inside the protection

Four layers of mechanical protection in every unit

Shock isolation is not a single feature - it is a layered system. Each layer handles a different frequency and amplitude range so the keyboard survives both sudden impacts and sustained low-frequency vibration equally well.

  • Die-cast aluminium shell - distributes impact energy across the chassis
  • Corner rubber bumpers - absorb local peak energy at vulnerable edges
  • Internal elastomer isolator mounts - decouple PCB from chassis vibration
  • Conformal-coated PCB - guards joints against vibration fatigue and moisture

Connectivity & protection layers

Every connection point is as tough as the keyboard

USB
Strain-relieved USB

Reinforced cable exit with strain-relief boot prevents connector tear-out under vibration and cable pull.

PS/2
Locking PS/2

Locking PS/2 connector option keeps the cable seated under sustained vibration and shock loads.

PCB
Conformal-coated PCB

Full-board coating seals all solder joints and traces against vibration fatigue, moisture and chemical ingress.

LED
Status indicators

Power On, Num Lock, Scroll Lock and Caps Lock - shock-isolated indicator mounting throughout.
